Virtual Services Supporting Families, Teams and Partner Agencies

During the past 7 years of providing services for Birth to Three families through a combination of in-home and virtual/tele-intervention services, Listen and Talk has continually expanded the opportunities to use virtual meetings and services to support families, staff and collaboration with partner agencies. In addition to virtual home visits, families and caregivers are welcome to participate in family education meetings either in person or virtually. Adding the option for families to participate virtually has resulted in increased attendance. Listen and Talk uses virtual formats to increase staff participation in a variety of meeting opportunities which include; individual and group staff meetings, mentoring during sessions with families, and joint visits with professionals providing a variety of therapy such as; physical, feeding, vision, infant mental health, interpreting, etc. The preschool therapy team recently added the use of virtual technology to include some family members in onsite therapy when it is not possible for them to attend in person. This presentation includes slides, video recordings and photos to give the audience the opportunity to experience how virtual services are used to enhance Listen and Talk’s various programs to support families, staff and partner agencies. Time will also be allotted for audience sharing and brainstorming individual program enhancements.

  • Identify opportunities in your program to implement or expand the use of virtual meetings.
  • Describe the potential value and improved effectiveness when using virtual meetings to collaborate with team members both within your agency and between partner agencies.
  • Analyze how your program can initiate and broaden your scope of services and collaboration using virtual technology.
