Cross Agency Collaboration in Support of HRSA-CDC EHDI Funded Programs

National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities (NCBDDD), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Maternal & Child Health Bureau (MCHB), Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) fund state/territorial programs to improve outcomes for deaf or hard-of-hearing (DHH) children and their families. HRSA MCHB investments focus on supporting comprehensive and coordinated systems of care; CDC NCBDDD investments focus on maintaining/enhancing data information systems and improving data-related processes to support decision-making, inform policies, and reduce disparities in screening, diagnosis, and early intervention for children who are (DHH). To increase inter-agency coordination, CDC NCBDDD and HRSA MCHB worked together to identify joint activities that support cohesive programmatic planning and messaging for EHDI recipients. Specifically, we will identify the Congressional language that describes the distinct role of HRSA and CDC and illustrate how EHDI strategies and outcomes are aligned. This cross-agency collaboration will help the coordination of activities; avoid duplication of efforts; ensure the alignment of quality measures to assess progress; and exchange best practices, which can lead to continuous improvement and more effective strategies over time.

  • Share Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities (NCBDDD) and Health Resources & Services Administration Maternal (HRSA) Child Health, Maternal & Child Health Bureau (MCHB) cross-agency collaboration strategies.
