Sharing My Perspective: Parent & Professional on cCMV
I am a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing as well as a parent of an adopted newborn with cCMV. This breakout session would educate, inform and provide support for other families and educators who care for children with cCMV. It will include my personal story as well as my professional experiences with cCMV. I will also invite families to share their experiences, ask questions and have them network together during the breakout.
- The learner will integrate past knowledge about cCMV with new knowledge and/or share their knowledge with other parents and professionals.
- The learner will compare and contrast the spectrum of outcomes of the 5 Developmental Domains in children with cCMV and analyze the power of Early Intervention.
- The learner will participate in small group discussions focused on advocating for the child they care for with cCMV.

Holly Frigerio is a Toddler and Preschool Classroom Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing who also serves families through Missouri First Steps Program at St. Joseph Institute for the Deaf. Holly's undergraduate degree was in Communication Disorders with a minor in Autism. She later went on to performing Newborn Hearing Screenings in the NICU at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital while she completed her graduate degree in Early Intervention in Deaf Education at Fontbonne University in St. Louis, MO. In the past year Holly and her husband adopted a little boy from AZ who has cCMV. As a professional, Holly was familiar with the diagnosis, but was stunned by the information she did not know until the adoption of her son, Owen.
