Dr. Carbone is a general pediatrician with an interest and experience in the area of autism and related developmental disabilities. He has held the position of Assistant Professor of Pediatrics since his arrival to the University of Utah in 2006. As an academic pediatrician, Dr Carbone works closely with families of children with disabilities. His clinical settings are varied and include the University's Child Development Clinic and the Children with Special Health Care Needs Satellite Clinics. His general pediatric practice is within the University of Utah Neurobehavioral H.O.M.E. Program, a lifespan clinic that provides comprehensive services for individuals with developmental disabilities. He is a current member of the Council on Children with Disabilities Autism Subcommittee of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Within the area of education he is currently the autism coordinator for the Utah Regional Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) Program. Dr. Carbone has lectured extensively both locally and nationally around the topic of autism; he delivered the keynote addresses at the Act Early Autism Summits, sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Maternal and Child Health Bureau. His research interest is in the area developmental disabilities and he has six peer-reviewed publications to his credit over the past five years.
