Abstract:

Effective data management is one way to assure accountability in state and federal newborn screening initiatives. In today's healthcare environment, that entails not only interoperability among health care providers but also between health and education. Data Systems integration is also recognized as a method of performance improvement. Detection must lead to connecting each infant to the proper intervention services. OZ Systems has listened to customers express their need for easy yet secure referral to Part C and information from Part C on timely connection to services. We will demonstrate this component of our data application showing how integration of blood spot screening, hearing screening, audiology diagnosis and Part C can enhance program performance. The CDC emphasizes verifiable data and individual child health screening record. The goal in data management is to track each individual baby to his personal care end point whether that is screening, referral to genetics, or referral to audiology and Part C. We will demonstrate how one can use data management systems to meet this challenge.
