Abstract:

The Region 4 Genetics Collaborative EHDI workgroup consists of key EHDI representatives from 7 states. One of the Workgroup goals is to identify and categorize follow-up issues related to the genetic referral for babies with diagnosed hearing loss. The other primary goal is to develop materials/products to assist with providing effective genetic follow-up for these babies and their families. The Workgroup is developing a “toolkit” for professions and families. There will be a brief description of the toolkit. This presentation will address one element of the toolkit, a PowerPoint presentation for use with providers that covers issues involved with making the genetic referral for EHDI babies with confirmed hearing loss.
