Abstract:

Professional personnel, students in Au.D. programs, early interventionists, parents, extended family members and others interested in the topic have expressed the need for a timely, relevant source of comprehensive information necessary to be an effective participant in the life of deaf and hard of hearing children. To address this need, the National Center for Hearing Assessment and Management now offers the 2015 edition of the Early Hearing Detection and Intervention E-Book. Numerous contributors from the NCHAM Technical Assistance Network and many outside experts have shared their expertise and experience in creating this colorful, easy to read yet authoritative information source which is updated annually and offered free of charge on the NCHAM website. This presentation will outline the development and content of this timely publication, as well as provide biographical information about the authors. Brief snippets of information from several chapters will be shared. Input from audience members will be solicited regarding additional topics of interest that should be included in future editions of this publication.

      Dr. Schmeltz is an associate professor of audiology at A. T. Still University and Editor-in-chief of the Journal of Early Hearing Detection and Intervention. He has served as Editor of the NCHAM E-Book since it's inception in 2010. He is a past-president of the Educational Audiology Association.
