KidScreen - Early Childhood Screenings for Early Headstart/HeadStart Programs & Private Preschools

In most states in the United States, all children enrolled in early headstart and headstart programs are expected to receive hearing and vision screenings within 45 days of starting the program. KidScreen is a hearing, vision, and speech/language screening program that screens 2,000 to 3,000 children a year in early headstart/head start programs and private daycare centers throughout the Denver metro area. KidScreen also provides hands on training for audiology students as part of their pediatric rotations. Presenters will describe screening protocols based on age determine equipment used with different scenarios considered for obtaining results. Presenters will provide an overview of the program administration and on-site workflow with considerations for screenings with diverse populations.

  • Participants will be able to list procedures used for hearing, speech, and vision in an early childhood screening program.
  • Participants will be able to identify factors that affect the on-site screening workflow.
  • Participants will be able to describe administrative functions in coordinating a screening program.
