Elevating Pediatric Audiology Practice: Assessing Best Practices and Policy Improvements

This session seeks to elevate pediatric audiology practice by systematically assessing and improving key components. This includes assessment of pediatric diagnostic best practices utilizing a rubric to identify strengths and best practices of pediatric diagnostic centers in audiology. The Michigan EHDI program will review the lessons learned and the modifications needed to the policies and procedures to contribute to improved outcomes for children.

  • To assess and identify strengths and weaknesses in pediatric diagnostic centers. This means we will systematically evaluate these centers to understand how they operate, the quality of care they provide, and their infant diagnostic testing protocols.
  • To gain a deeper understanding of the technical needs within the field of audiology. This involves identifying the specific challenges that audiology professionals face and pinpointing areas where they require support and resources.
  • To identify areas for improvement within the EHDI program, considering policies, procedures, and implementation strategies to enhance the effectiveness and contribute to better outcomes for children who are deaf and hard of hearing.
